| Water Conservation Alert | The storms last night passed very near Baldwin City. We were very lucky, and did not suffer any outages within the City; however, just a few miles away, our neighbors to the North were not so lucky.
Westar has over 13,000 customers out of electricity right now. Our water pumping station is located within this region, and currently has no power. We use these pumps to move water from Lawrence to the towers in Baldwin City. We drove up to inspect the pumping station at 6PM last night. There is massive damage, and there are several poles and electric lines on the ground in that area.
Until Westar restores the electricity, we have no ability to pump water into Baldwin City. Unfortunately, we also have no idea how long it will take to restore power to this region. We are looking for a backup generator right now that we can install to temporarily run the water pumps. I have calls out to several vendors, and I’m sure we can come up with something today.
In the meantime, we are asking everyone to Please Implement Conservation Methods to help us conserve the water we do have in the towers. As of 9:30 PM last night, we had approximately 20 feet in each tower. Used sparingly, this should last us for approximately 36 hours. |
