Today the Baldwin City Police Department arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail a 44-year-old Lyon County man on suspicion of committing two counts of rape and one count of aggravated sexual battery.

City Council passed Ordinance 1513 at the July 15 Council Meeting, revising electric rates effective July 1, 2025.

Chip and seal work to begin in Baldwin City August 11th
August 5, 2025

Chip and seal work is set to begin on the streets west of 8th Street and north of High Street on Monday, August 11th. Work is expected to take a few days to complete. Door hangers will be placed in affected neighborhoods prior to any street closings.

Douglas County Begins Chip and Seal on 26.5 Miles of County Road Mid-July

Chip and seal work to begin on 26.5 miles of county roads beginning in mid-July, including some roads in and near Baldwin City. Work is expected to take three to four weeks.
